The following description refer to CEI 60529 standard.
The object of this standard is to give:
- Definitions for degrees of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment as regards:
a) protection of persons against access to hazardous parts inside the enclosure;b) protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects;
c) protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against harmful effects due to the ingress of water.
- Designations for these degrees of protection.
The degree of protection provided by an enclosure is indicated by the IP Code in the following way:
